National Coming Out Day (NCOD) is an internationally observed civil awareness day celebrating individuals who publicly identify as bisexual, gay, lesbian or transgender — coming out regarding one's sexual orientation and/or gender identity being akin to a cultural rite of passage for LGBT people. The holiday is observed annually by members of the LGBT community on Oct. 11. In honor of this, at RPU's next meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in UUW-302, we will be sharing coming out stories. You can feel free to share your own coming out story, or if you are an ally, talk about how you reacted to someone in your life coming out to you. If you happen to still be closeted, do not feel obligated to out yourself to our group or anyone outside of it.Rainbow Pride Union has a strict confidentiality policy in place, and it is enforced by the University. Anything you see or hear in the room stays in the room, especially in the case of someone who is closeted.
This meeting is a part of Fall Pride Week 2012.
